When I inform individuals I took my boy to Winnipeg, Canada, among the primary concerns I heard was, "Why?" My response: "Why not?" It's a simple flight from Chicago and the Midwest. Pertain to believe of it, it's a simple flight for many individuals. For those who don't understand, Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba and the geographical center of The United States and Canada.

Quick forward a hundred years, and Winnipeg is home to over 700,000 citizens, a vibrant dining scene, year round festivals, and incredible destinations. If you're visiting with family, you will find there are plenty of things to do in Winnipeg with kids.

We honestly didn't know what to expect at this museum, but it far surpassed our expectations. A lot so, it's difficult to take into words. A see to the museum is a journey through human rights, from the early foundations, through the difficult times along the roadway, to present day.

The room is rather dark, however this serves a purpose. As guests rose the ramps of the museum, the exhibit spaces end up being brighter, signifying the development of human rights through history. Every level has an unforgettable experience and display. We enjoyed the exhibition Canadian Experiences, with 19 rooms, each showcasing a human rights story.

Every single display has a purpose, and we left there speechless, knowing it would take some time to digest whatever we had seen. We just invested a couple of hours at the museum, but do yourself a favor and strategy on spending at least a half day or more.

We loved the pizza at Red Embers, the empanadas and sandwiches at Empanadas & Co., and the macarons at Jenna Rae Cakes. It's an enjoyable location to spend an afternoon. Lots of food and shopping choices! Adjacent to The Forks Market is the Forks Harbour for boat trips along the Assiniboine and Red Rivers.

We enjoy heading out on the water, so this was an excellent break from walking the city. Beautiful view of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and Esplanade Riel from the water. Located nearby to the zoo, Assiniboine Park is the ideal location to invest an hour or 2.

One of our favorite spots to check out was the English Garden, where everything was perfectly manicured, and the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden. For the majority of households the Nature Play area will be the park's highlight with it's numerous play structures and slides. Take a picnic lunch or walk throughout the Assiniboine Park Foot Bridge and grab ice cream at Sargent Sundae or sandwiches/salads at Joe Black Coffee Bar.

Assiniboine Zoo spans eighty acres and is home to over 200 different animal types, from tigers to toucans. The primary destination is the zoo's "Journey to Churchill" display, dedicated to the wildlife, terrain, and conservation efforts of Churchill, Manitoba, the polar bear capital of the world. Polar bears are the stars of the program as they swim overhead while visitors walk through a glass tunnel.

Choosing Top Youth Services Within the Winnipeg Area

Spend a long time exploring the French side of Winnipeg. Fort Whyte Alive is a nature preserve with an instructional center, 7 km of hiking/biking routes, canoeing, a pioneer sod house, drifting marsh boardwalks, and a tipi encampment. We loved roaming the tracks and seeing the range of birds along the method.

The Manitoba Museum is a one stop store for history, science, and nature enthusiasts. We took in a program at the planetarium, constructed race automobiles and LEGOs in the hands-on science center, and discovered about Manitoba's history.
